The arts are alive in Rappahannock County schools and RAAC is there to support them with summer workshops, after-school enrichment classes, faculty grants — and for the second year, a gallery of their own on this year’s Fall Art Tour!
For several years the schools participated in the Fall Art Tour’s Headquarters Gallery, their large wall murals surrounding the main gallery, which traditionally featured hundreds of works by participating Art Tour artists. With no Headquarters Gallery again this year, the Washington School is providing a spacious venue for the schools to again display their students’ work.
Six schools are represented this year — Rappahannock County High School, Rappahannock County Elementary School, Belle Meade Montessori School, Wakefield Country Day School, Fun in the Sun Summer Camp, and Hearthstone School. Each was invited to create a collaborative mural or art installation with a theme of their choice. The teams of artists range from Kindergarteners to 12th graders. While each piece is unique, there are common threads that unite them — every child is creative & imaginative, and by working & problem-solving together they can create something valuable and beautiful.
The student gallery is open only on Saturday, November 5 for the Fall Art Tour, with the New Iberia food truck also on site on Saturday only from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.
The show will thereafter be open for visitors through the month of November, Monday -Thursday from 9:00 am -4:00 pm, Friday 9:00 -2:00 pm; admission is free.
Special thanks to the Washington School for welcoming the Rappahannock Schools Gallery and the public.
The Washington School is at 567 Mount Salem Avenue in the town of Washington.
