Artistic creation … the art of creating something original … is I think, quite simply a part of my DNA. Both my mother and father were artistic people, gifted with the ability to turn simple materials … a piece of charcoal, a block of wood, a scrap of silk … into something quite beautiful. My only sibling, my brother, followed that muse and created over the years, many works of art himself.

And I have been creating, practicing, teaching and immersing myself in art for over six decades. Today my choice of medium is acrylic paint. While I have worked in calligraphy, both wood and clay sculpture, oil painting, pastel drawing and mural design, I am happiest working at my easel, in a large sunny room in my farm house, with acrylic paints. I love the depth of color, rich, vibrant color, and tangible, energetic brush strokes that can be achieved within this medium. I enjoy portraiture as well as still life and landscape subjects, and have created numerous
original portraits over the years. I choose realism in my technique and style, and yet, there is always some slightly interpretive liberties taken with perspective, with angle of light, with unexpected expression that allow me to give my art my own, unique … point of view.
