Welcome Alfred Regnery to the Fall Art Tour! Regne Welcome Alfred Regnery to the Fall Art Tour! Regnery is a talented furniture maker, who says, "I am a retired lawyer and book publisher; woodworking has been a hobby since childhood. I made many chests, tables, dressers, a couple of lowboys and other pieces, but graduated to chairs about 20 years ago. The inspiration was my grandfather, a distinguished Philadelphia Quaker of the old school who often sat, in his three-piece suit with a gold watch chain stretched across his ample middle, at his desk in an old sack-backed Windsor chair. I always admired that chair, and felt blessed when it was given to me when he died.

"My “studio” is a woodworking shop where I make handcrafted furniture out of local hardwoods. Much of my work is reproductions of American and English pieces, although I have made several more contemporary pieces as well. In recent years I have concentrated on making several styles of Windsor chairs.

"Unlike tables and chests, chairs don’t have right angles, each piece is unique, and fitting them together is an art form. My first Windsor was like a luthier’s first violin — crude, amateurish, uncomfortable, uneven and crooked. The next was better, and each thereafter both a learning experience, a little better than the last and, it turns out, an addictive undertaking."

See much more of Regnery's work on our website at www.fallarttour.org! We're excited to welcome this wonderful Rappahannock County artist to the Tour!
We’re thrilled to welcome painter Kathy Stewart We’re thrilled to welcome painter Kathy Stewart to this year’s Fall Art Tour!

Kathy describes her role as an artist as that of a translator — someone who takes the deeply personal experience of seeing and feeling, and transforms it into something others can connect with.

“When I apply paint to a surface,” she writes, “I am revealing an intimate experience that I alone am processing. The result, which is the painting, bridges that space shared by the viewer and me.”

Working primarily in oils and occasionally in mixed media, Kathy draws inspiration from nature, objects, and the human figure. Her influences range from medieval art to post-impressionism and contemporary realism, and her work reflects a compelling mix of tradition and personal expression.

Come discover her evocative, finely crafted paintings during the Fall Art Tour November 1-2, 2025 - our 20th year! - and experience the connection she creates between artist and viewer.
