Photographer Ellen Zimmerman is a featured artist Photographer Ellen Zimmerman is a featured artist at Gay Street Gallery for this year's Fall Art Tour. Ellen is a visual storyteller who explores the beauty of nature as an expression of faith, wonder and the vastness of what we cannot fully know. This series showcases a bitter cold, predawn morning in the Great Smoky Mountains. She was witness to this take-your-breath-away beauty – from first light (Dreaming Blue) to the early morning drama of molten gold and deep bronze (Burnished Copper), through the sun-kissed beauty of hoarfrost hugging the ridges (Smoky Mountain Sunrise). For one weekend each fall, studios and galleries throughout the county open their doors for the Fall Art Tour, inviting you to meet the artists, explore their work, and experience the creativity that makes this community so special. The 21st Annual Fall Art Tour is just three weeks away - November 7–8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. This free, self-guided tour is an opportunity to meet artists, see where they create, discover original work in a wide range of mediums, and experience the beauty of our countryside along the way. Start wherever you like and create your own adventure through the quaint towns and beautiful byways of Rappahannock County, VA. Along the way, you’ll find working studios, galleries, demonstrations, new work, and plenty of opportunities to talk with the artists about their creative process. The Main Gallery in Washington, VA is a wonderful place to begin, with a preview of all the artists and galleries participating on the Tour, along with maps and information to help you plan your weekend.
