The winners of the 2024 Fall Art Tour Photo Contes The winners of the 2024 Fall Art Tour Photo Contest have been announced! They are: 1. Studio Scenes: Francie Gabbay's “Kat Habib at Margaret Rogers’ Studio." This image shows a studio display of a pot in an outdoor environmental setting. This beautiful composition shows the artwork balanced by the detailed fern backlit leaning respectfully away from the pot. The blurred background or bokeh gives prominence to the subjects. 2. Autumn Scenes: Daniel Horowitz' “Hay Bales and Autumn Color." Hay bales are a Rappahannock County icon. We liked the composition of the rolling contours on the hillside coupled with the colorful forested background capturing the essence of autumn in our county. 3. Spirit of the Tour: Cherl Crews' “Mask and a Woman." Submitted by Donna Marquisee, who is shown in photo. The woman is playfully smiling with a mask crafted in Peggy Schadler’s studio and shown in the Sperryville ARTist Cooperative Gallery. Chosen because of the energy and composition. It captures the fun and interaction with art. Truly a celebration of the Fall Art Tour vision. Congratulations to the winners!

Selected by professional Rappahanock photographers Ray Boc and Luke Christopher; notes below are from Ray and Luke. 1. Supporting Shenandoah artists, honoring Kevin Adam Supporting Shenandoah artists, honoring Kevin Adams: Jay Ward Brown creates fund for artists, in honor of his late husband, by Tim Carrington Beloved Rappahannock artist Kevin Adams experienced an exceptionally productive period in 2017, when he relocated from the Town of Washington to the peaks, outcroppings and crannies of the Shenandoah National Park as artist-in-residence. Five years later, saddened by Adams’ death from brain cancer, friends, fellow artists and neighbors revisited the dozens of paintings and sketches he generated during his weeks in the park, alongside an array of Rappahannock landscapes. This week, Jay Ward Brown, a lawyer and owner of the Gay Street Gallery, announced that he is establishing a fund in memory of his late husband to support other artists to work in this same setting. The Kevin H. Adams Memorial Fund for Art in the Park, builds the painter’s hope that the national parks would continue to attract not only animals and hikers, but artists who might linger and look closely.
