WHAT’S HAPPENING IN DECEMBER WITH FALL ART TOUR VENUES AND ARTISTS!

The Holiday season is here, and it’s a great time to come out to Rappahannock County to shop for unique and special gifts from artists and locally-owned small businesses, see new and continuing exhibits, and enjoy our galleries and shops, award-winning wines and micro-breweries, amazing restaurants, and overnight accomodations. Rappahannock County is so beautiful in December, with our villages and shops bedecked for the holidays, and open winter vistas of the Shenandoah National Park and beautiful Blue Ridge mountains.

From Joan Wiberg:

These paintings are the product of my trip outside my comfort zone.

I did them while taking a class encouraging the artist to explore their aesthetic preferences using acrylic paints, a broad range of mark making techniques, and collage. We looked inside ourselves for inspiration…imagery…memories…to create a body of work unique to ourselves. I also attempted to use these methods for my regular plein air “paint outs”.

It’s not what you paint, but being present to the process of painting it.

The art journey need not be a straight path.

All of our other galleries are open for the Holidays, of course, and are full of amazing local art, crafts and gifts – be sure to visit Artful Friends and Sperryville ARTist Cooperative and Gallery at the Sperryville Marketplace, R.H. Ballard Gallery & Shop, Cottage Curator, Gay Street Gallery, Haley Fine Art, Hazel River Arts & Antiques, and Thornton River Art.
