The 18-artist members of Middle Street Gallery embrace a wide variety of subjects, styles and media, including oil painting, watercolor, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture and multimedia. Subjects range from the traditional views of Piedmont Virginia and the Blue Ridge, to portraits, abstracts and other avant-garde subjects. The backgrounds of the artists are equally varied, from members with advanced degrees in the fine arts to those who are completely self-taught. Some work extensively in the outdoors while others prefer to work in studios.
